Artist Line-Up

The McMash ClanBraindrop

The Clan return to take centre stage and warm up for festival season with a big, bwaad and heavy intensive 5 deck set. The McMash Clan's sets are comparable to a live musical performance, with each tune / acapella / bassline on each deck being manouvered into place in a carefully choreographed turntablist showpiece. As always expect triple drop madness, go-faster scratching, CDJ wizardry and a massively eclectic selection chopping through D&B, breaks, dubstep, techno, gabba, electro, breakcore and hardcore. Welcome to the world of the bassline!

CyantificHospital

We warmly welcome half of Hospital Records' bwaadest production team to the Braindrop main arena. Since shaking up the D&B world with their ruffneck, soul-tinged anthem "Don't Follow" (which has torn the Braindrop dancefloor to pieces on many occasions) Jon and Mat have been carving a name for themselves as a forward thinking force within the scene who are not afraid to push the boundaries of conventional junglist production. Jon's DJ skills are legendary, having won him BBC 1Xtra's Best Breakthrough DJ title in 2007. He joins us tonight for a 3 deck, multiple drop rollercoaster ride through a selection of future VIP dubs and time old classics. Ghettoooblaaasstaaaaa!!!

Peace offDr Bastardo

Peace Off's very own Dr Bastardo joins us for his Braindrop debut. A General Practitioner in a quiet Sussex village by day, by night the good doctor dons a fearsome wrestler mask and flexes his rave mash-up mastery. We first saw him perform live when we played up at Drop Beats Not Bombs, Birmingham, back in November last year. He tore the Wrong Music arena to pieces with a 100% live, Ableton intensive laptop reworking of his own thumping breakcore-gabba junglist productions. Expect tearing Reece assaults, grinding amens, bassbin busting gabba kicks and impossible 200bpm + edits. Wahaaa!!

Pyrokinesis

Roll up, roll up and come join the cabarave! Our April event saw Reading's Pyrokinesis circus take over the main arena with a spectacular show of flame manipulation, acrobatics, UV trickery and burlesque performance. We proudly announce their return to the Braindrop stage this month. Check out the BD024 photos to see what happens when a pyrotechnic circus comes to Braindrop. You won't be disappointed Ð absolute bass (and paraffin) fuelled mayhem!

Fat! / Sub FMReso vs Roko

Warning warning Ð soundclash alert! Breakstep prodigy Reso joins forces with Sub FM's dubstep dojo Roko to kick off the party in Room 1 and provide the soundtrack to the 1000 balloon stomp. Most of you will know Reso as the man behind the buttons of his seminal "2 Faced Rasta" remix, and his productions have received heavy rotation from A-list dubstep, breaks and techno DJs alike. Finnish born Roko is a key player in the Sub FM family. In December he made his Braindrop debut, taking the room 2 crowd on a conscious and unforgettable journey through the world of dubstep. This month they join forces to bring you a earth shaking, party starting voyage through techno, Baltimore, baile funk, breaks, bassline house and grimey, skanky dubstep.

Charlie Cutta

Braindrop legend Charlie Cutta returns to the main stage with a DJ set of his own fat as f**k productions. Over the past 8 months he has been honing his production skills and building up an arsenal of heavyweight tunes. His productions hop from electro infused D&B to psychedelic dubstep to booty breaksÉ and everything in between. Prepare for some heavyweight remixes, original productions and his own live turntablist scratch skills to top it off. Badbwoooy!

Markomen vs J:Kenzo

Our resident dubsteppers return for the next instalment in their battle for bassline supremacy. Each Braindrop Markomen and J:Kenzo got head to head (or dub to dub for that matter) to see who can out skank, out wobble and generally kick the place off harder than the other. After having his super-heavyweight title torn from his bass battered hands in June by Jay, Marko is looking to unleash some new high grade steppaz technology and claim it back. Brace yourselves for a skank-off of epic proportions; crashing skyscraper sized beats, sun drenched reggae hooks straight outta Jamaica and electro-bass devastation from the year 3000. Pull it!

Mr Kipling

Mr Kipling joined us for our end of the night psy-trance stompathon in February and tore the place down. A technically proficient DJ with next level selection, he purveys the finest and chunkiest of electro infused psychedelic trance and psy-breaks. Prepare for thumping kick pulses from the centre of the earth, winding elastic synths and some of the most insane build ups and drops you will have ever experienced. This end of the night set is fast becoming legendary Ð make sure you catch it!

CodeshiftYardcore

Yardcore's resident dubstep shamen returns to bless you with the deeper, more spiritual side of dubstep. Codeshift used to regularly play our much missed Shisha Dubstep session until government killjoys made smoking even the most lovely and flavoursome of tobaccos inside illegal (wait 'til we move to a venue with an outside terrace!). Now he's back to play a peak time selection of conscious skankers. Come meditate on his bass-weight!

Scratch Club

Hip hop specialists Scratch Club bring their block party ethos back to kick off the party in Room 2 once again. Comprising of 2 DJs and 2 MCs, these boys set the place on fire back in April with a lightning quick selection, turntablist cuts and live lyricism. Expect the fattest hip hop joints from both sides of the Atlantic, new and old. Watch out for their upcoming September event in Birmingham ft DJ Q-Bert and The McMash Clan

Peace Not WarBass6

Bass6 is our resident beatbox extraordinaire and compare who is truly without compare. Ru has performed at nearly every single Braindrop and has become just as much part of the night as big bwaad basslines, volleys of glo-sticks and good vibes. He is a fantastic musician, performer and host and the energy that he gives to the crowd month in month out is truly staggering. Absolute legend!

Sub FMAmen Ra & Vibezin

Amen Ra & Vibezin first played for us at the Christmas Party, and have since become a hotly anticipated part of the night for all those who like their dubstep deep, driving and conscious. Having received airplay from the likes of Radio 1's Mary Anne Hobbes and having secured the support and backing of Burial and Kode-9, these boys are making waves throughout the dubstep scene at the moment. Tonight they flip the script with a later set than usual, taking it darker, ravier and heavier than ever before.

TetsuoOverfiend

Motion Sickness' darker half joins us to wrap up proceedings in the 2nd room. Tetsueo is a connoisseur in the more lethal end of the D&B spectrum, constructing his awesome sets around a solid foundation of molten lava bass stabs, militant rolling drums and apocalyptic drops. With Audio, Evol Intent, Unknown Error, Counterstrike, Limewax, and Panacea all vying for space in his record box, brace yourselves for a selection of high grade drums and bass straight out of Hell. This is Doomcore!

Orchid Bite

All female VJ crew extraordinaire Orchid bite are back to unleash their imaginations on our multi-rig set up. From Belgium and Finland respectively, Alexia and Sabrina's visuals see constantly morphing geometric lines and shapes lead you through a multi faceted world of light, texture and illusion. On their Myspace they say "we consider the screens as a painting, mixing the layers and colours live in a serigraphic way to the point where fiction and reality converge." Amazing.

Sam's artwork has been present at Braindrop for as long as we can remember and has become as synonymous with our parties as glo-sticks and good vibes rinsey bizniss. She is the creative force behind the vast majority of the banners and figures adorning every wall in Jacks. Look out for more beautiful creations from Sam coming very soon.

BraindropPikilipita

One of the most original and different VJs on the circuit, Pikilipita has been with us since our 2nd event. He controls all his visuals from computer consoles, usually a Gamecube or Gameboy Advance. Turning his own visuals into an interactive game, he can be seen in the middle of the dancefloor controlling his cutesy animal family as they embark on a rave journey through a colourful Mario style world. His characters such as Red Kitty, Panda and Penguin are already Braindrop classics. Check out his website to get a taster.
