We first met Kanji several years in 2006, when he would regularly come along with a group of mates to Braindrop at the Purple Turtle. The next time we bumped into him would be early 2009. In those few years he’d transformed himself from a bedroom producer learning the ropes to a massively respected, in demand artist and future bass pioneer.
He’s already officially remixed Roisin Murphy, AC Slater, Mikix the Cat, Kid 606, Drop the Lime, Adam Freeland and Subeena. And his recent rerub of 16 Bit’s earth shaking Chainsaw anthem should definitely win most ridiculously gurn inducing tune of 2009.
We caught up with in advance of his Braindrop @ Bloc set his to ask him some very important questions. And the lovely chap has given us one of his biggest anthems for FREE download – the absolutely massive Deep Down South. Link is at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!

This week we speak to the fantastic Amental. A Norfolk based collective of jungle fanatics, these boys are establishing themselves as some of the most talented and dedicated young amen mashers around.
We’ve played with them a number of times over the last year – notably Braindrop @ Scala, Bloc Weekend and Jungle Syndicate Bristol. And they’ve smashed it every time with their Ableton based live show. And the lovely chaps have given us a track to download too.
We caught up with 2 of their key players, Dr Um…. and Badman Moriarty to chat about barn trance, amens and rat poo.

Wrong Music Allstars The Countryside Alliance Crew come together for a rural rendition of We Are Rural. It’s a truly terrible yet very funny remake of “We Are the World” originally crooned by a whole host of mega ego’d celebs.
The Alliance say: “Don’t buy Rage Against The Machine OR the X Factor track and give money to Sony, download this track free, and give what you can to Farm Africa, supporting farmers in the third world”
Check the vid below - and check out the awful original in all its star studded glory below that!

This week we chat to rave loving bass buccaneers Pirate Soundsystem. Part of the excellent Coin Operated imprint (alongside Kanji Kinetic, Squires of Gothos, Warlock etc etc) and Wide Recordings, signed to the Fat! DJ agency and residents at monthly bass frenzy the Z-Shed.
The Pirates make big, fat and high octane 4×4 rave influenced bass music. Their remix skills have been sought by the likes of Drop The Lime, Wiley, A1 Bassline, DZ, Ctrl Z & The Freestylers, Merka, Zomby, Si Begg, Hadouken! and Bonde Do Role to name a few.
We caught up with the boys to chat about all our favorite things…And the lovely fellows gave us an exclusive track for free download – their BANGING, brand new and unreleased remix of Double 99’s RIP Groove. Read on for production tips, musical inspiration and funny dogs!

Welcome to the first of our artist interview / free download series. Every week we’ll be interviewing an artist we massively love and respect and asking them for a cheeky exclusive download or 2.
First off we have the fantastic Bruce Stallion. Bruce’s party smashing sets and productions straddle dubstep, electro, heavy bass and wobble happy rave. His tunes caught the discerning ears of Kid 606, who promtly signed him up to his infamous Tigerbeat6 label.
Bruce smashed our Braindrop main room to pieces back in September. We caught up with him to ask the man himself some important questions about music, production . . and animals.
