In case you’ve not seen this classic Youtube video yet. Is it real or is it dubbed? Either way, what a screw face!

On Saturday 26 June we had the honour of closing Glastonbury’s immense 8000 capacity Arcadia arena with a set that took us 6 weeks to put together. The whole weekend was absolutely mental, with enough shenanigans going on to deserve a whole blog in itself. Here’s a quick run down of our first McMash outing to the biggest and best festival in the world:
This year Glasto celebrates its 40th anniversary. June 1970 saw the birth of the world’s largest open air and performing arts festival. Over the decades it’s become the stuff of legend – the ultimate festival experience. Over 170,000 people, countless stages, arenas, and differently themed fields, a massively diverse line up, amazing atmosphere and unparalleled production.
And we’re humbled to have been invited to play at this year’s massive birthday blowout! Read More >
Haha -- classic Sesame St wierdness. Aliens search the airwaves until they find some bangin’ hardcore beats. Big up to our mate Rrritalin of the Yardcore crew who brought our attention to this!
PS -- Thanks to everyone who wrote to us pointing out the problem with the videos. New ones are fixed and we’ll be going back to fix the old ones shortly.
Bloc is SOLD OUT!
Thanks to everyone who bought their ticket – you are in for one hell of a party!
Here’s a taster of what’s to come.
We stumbled across this beauty on Bloc TV the other day. Altern8 smashing the s**t out of Red:Bloc on the Sunday night at the sold out 2009 festie. Braindrop will be hosting this exact same arena this Sunday 14 March. Boom!

Wow – Nike used 16 Bit’s anthem “Jump” for their new Nike tv campaign.
We’ve had 16 Bit to play at Braindrop a good few times now – they make some of the most well produced bass music out there and they always smash it when playing out. Big up guys!

Whilst wasting yet more time on Youtube we found an amazing documentary on jungle from 1994. It’s a fascinating insight into the early jungle movement – soon after it had splintered from hardcore.
Back then it represented a fusion of rave music and black sound system culture – speeding up the kinds of breakbeats found in hardcore records and fusing them with exaggerated dub basslines. It’s incredible to see the sheer pride these jungle pioneers feel for their new found music. It reminds me of the way fans and djs would speak about dubstep when it first emerged.
This program features interviews and live performances from the incredibly young Shy FX, UK Apache, Fabio, LTJ Bukem, Rhyme Time, Trace and DJ Rap amongst many others. Oh and a very unpopular General Levy!
So make yourself a cup of tea, kick back and prepare for a junglist history lesson. Make sure you check out the haircuts and silly clothes – classic!
You may well have seen this by now, but we had to put this up. A very clever person remakes The Prodigy’s classic Smack My Bitch Up with the help of Ableton, Kool & The Gang, Randy Weston, Kool Keith and Rage Against the Machine. Genius.

Happy New Year! Back to work? Had to trudge through snow and wait ages in the cold for trains this morning? Here’s something to cheer you up. The Lyre bird – one that imitates camera shutters and chainsaws – as well as other birds. Amazing!
