DJ Hype & MC Daddy Earl

“Badboy D&B legend”

Hype’s been one of the top dogs in jump up jungle and D&B since day one. One third of the legendary Ganja Kru (alongside Zinc and Pascal). Founder of the Tru Playaz empire (one of the top selling D&B labels of all time and one of Fabric’s most popular resident club nights). He’s been responsible for some of our favorite classic tunes (Closer to God / Peace, Love & Unity).

He joins us to close the night and therefore the whole festival with a storming jump up, upfront party drum ‘n’ bass selection – hosted and toasted by long time collaborator MC Daddy Earl. Massive!

Check out his fantastic live mix – link is just below his picture on the right . . .

MJ Cole

“UK Garage originator”

Old skool legend who’s currently making a huge come back. MJ Cole is one of the few survivors of the UK garage boom leading up to and at the
beginning of the noughties. Whilst many producers relied on gimmicky
samples and elementary production, MJ Cole crafted anthem after polished
anthem, combining sonic clarity and bassweight with unparralelled
musicality. Check “Sincere“, one of the all time classic UKG tunes and
his debut release.

Since the diffusion of the garage scene, MJ Cole has reinvented his
sound and his performance style. Using Serato, he mashes up funky,
dubstep, garage, bassline techno, house and electro in a sub heavy
carnival mash-up. Check out his recent bassline smasher AO ft Toddla T’s
MC Serocee for a taster. Bo!

The McMash Clan

“Turntablecore”

The clan head back to the studio to bring the Bloc faithful their biggest and most turntable intensive set yet.

Pushing creative and technical boundaries, The McMash Clan create epic turntablist rave sets designed to smash dance floors.

The Clan use 4 turntables, 2 CDJs, 2 mixers and a Kaoss Pad 3. They are best known for their meticulously planned musical journeys; each bar is pre-planned as they cut, scratch, juggle, triple drop and re-edit their way through dubstep, d&b, bassline, techno, hardcore, electro, jungle, gabba, hip hop, reggae, breakcore and psytrance.

This is Turntablecore. Check out their mix from the Briandrop Boat Rave for a taster!

Reso vs Vent

Screwface bass pressure”

Massive, massive soundclash bizniss from 2 of the rowdiest producers of
techy, epic bass-scapes around.

In the red corner we have Reso. Production prodigy signed exclusively to
the fantastic Civil Music, Reso continues to push the boundaries of
dubstep / bass music. His technoid productions fuse clever edits and
slamming beats with tearing devil dass and cinematic soundscapes. In the
words of Mary Anne Hobbes: “Reso is one of the most gifted producers I
have heard in my life.”

In the blue corner we have Vent. Signed to tear out breakbeat label
Hardcore Beats (home to Ctrl-Z, Screwface and Autobots), their big room,
hand in the air mash-up bassline sound smashes through breakbeat,
dubstep and 100bpm stompers.

And when the 2 of them get together? “Rumble” – the biggest screwface
tune of 2009. Make sure you check out the DC Breaks dubstep / D&B
mash-up remix. Big big big! And definately clever. Fight!

Raffertie vs Kanji Kinetic

“Future-wobble soundclash!”

2 of the most talented of todays bass / rave producers go head to head
for an exclusive b2b showdown.

Raffertie has built up a formidable reputation for himself with his
futuristic, psychedelic and highly original take on the 4×4 bassline /
wobble sound. His sickeningly original productions defy all convention,
whilst his party mash-up sets are world renowned.

Kanji Kinetic has been a Braindrop regular for years, frequenting
Braindrop back at the Purple Turtle. Over the years he’s transformed
himslef into one of the most highly regarded bassline producers today,
his remix skills having been sought after by Drop the Lime, Kid 606 and
Mikix the Cat amongst many others. 2010 is going to be a big year for
Kanji – make sure you check his current remix of 16 Bit’s Chainsaw
Calligraphy
. Ridiculous 4×4 synth insanity that’ll make you want to
scream and tear your front teeth out with a rusty fork. In a good way.

Check out Kanji’s massive mix for Z-Shed – it’s ALL about the Chainsaw remix!

AGT Rave Cru

“Ableton rave-core mash-up maestros”

After blowing the roof off our main arena back in February we thought
we’d invite kings of mash-up AGT Rave Cru back for our BLOC debut. Using
2 Ableton armed laptops, soft synths, 303s, midi controllers and an
enviable music collection, Andy and Josh have been making a name for
themselves with their high octane, mash-up style sets.

They stole the show at the last 2 Blocs. DJ Magazine named them as one
of the top 3 acts of the 2008 festival (a great achievement considering
competition from the likes of Dave Clarke, Kode 9, Ben Simms, Milanese,
Luke Vibert and Current Value).

Expect a journey laced with chopped acapellas, impromptu acid freestyles
and euphoric breakdowns – taking you from the early days of acid house,
old-skool hardcore and jungle, right through to future grime, dubstep
and techno. Quite possibly the most perfectly suited act we’ve ever had
to Braindrop… and in the words of DJ Magazine “beyond insane.”
